Spyke
Stretcher with assisted loading system and predictive maintenance
Spyke is the first manual stretcher with active monitoring system that precisely indicates when maintenance should be performed.
Its modularity ensures that every ambulance is always ready for any intervention. Simple maneuvers, zero effort for operators, and maximum safety for patients. This advanced patient handling and transport system includes an auto-loading trolley, a fastening system, and a removable upper stretcher that can be adjusted to facilitate semi-sitting, anti-shock, and Fowler positions.

Adjustable and foldable side rails
Safety belts
Removable and reversible (forward- and rear-facing) upper stretcher, equipped with four telescopic handles.
Two independent controls with intentional safety mechanism for adjusting 5 height levels.

All-in-one: modularity
With Spyke, it’s possible to transform ambulances into versatile units ready for any eventuality. Its modularity supports not only emergency transport, but also bariatric, bio-containment, and neonatal transport, reducing downtime between services. One single auto-loading stretcher for every need, ensuring maximum functionality in any context.
Complete Care
Spyke is part of an integrated system that facilitates the operators’ work and ensures patient safety and comfort.
Complete Care involves the main Stem systems for patient transport, such as:
- Stretchers with corresponding modules;
- Wide range of both shock-absorbing and rigid stretcher supports;
- Assisted loading systems.
All these components communicate with each other, simplifying the operators’ work.
Zero effort for operators with Sherpa and the S.U.S system
Thanks to perfect integration with Sherpa Slim assisted loading system, Spyke reduces the risk of physical overload for operators. The compact and ergonomic design of Sherpa Slim allows obstacle-free maneuvers, including the execution of delicate procedures such as intubation. Its main features include:
- Capability to manage loads up to 300 kg, with 15° slopes;
- Advanced safety system S.U.S. (Safe Unload System), which detects obstacles during unloading and halts the system, helping prevent loss of control over the stretcher;
- Direct connection between Sherpa Slim and Spyke stretcher for operation control via IN and OUT commands, eliminating the need for external remote controls.
Predictive maintenance
Spyke is the world’s first stretcher with an active monitoring system that records usage cycles, counts ambulance loadings, and tracks display activation time. This allows for precise scheduling of maintenance interventions.
Thanks to its smart connectivity, Spyke integrates the following technologies:
- 4G for real-time transmission of diagnostic data;
- RFID technology enabling automatic recognition of modules mounted on the undercarriage;
- Bluetooth connectivity for pairing with Global Service app, which enables monitoring, diagnostics, and assistance requests—anytime, anywhere.
To complete the service offering, Stem EMS provides access to a comprehensive network of authorised service centres.
Display
Spyke is the first manual stretcher equipped with a display that allows:
- Visualizing the correct attachment of the stretcher to the trolley and of the trolley to the fastening system;
- Monitoring connected devices like Sherpa Slim;
- Receiving information related to predictive maintenance and diagnostics.
The display is equipped with a rechargeable battery that is automatically powered via an induction system integrated into the fastening mechanism, which activates when Spyke is on board the vehicle. The battery’s charge status is always visible on the display.
