{"id":15460,"date":"2021-06-01T11:15:24","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T09:15:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stem.it\/?p=15460"},"modified":"2025-02-27T12:24:29","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T11:24:29","slug":"billy-cab-biocontainment-for-medical-centers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stem.it\/en\/emergency-tech\/billy-cab-biocontainment-for-medical-centers\/","title":{"rendered":"Billy-CAB a real innovation in medical transport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Specific laboratory test have proven the effectiveness of the Billy-CAB<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The persistence of the Covid-19 pandemic over time, as well as the need to protect the medical operators from the medical centers involved in the transport of highly contagious patients, requires the use of biocontainment devices.<br>After designing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stem.it\/en\/products\/billy-cab\/#:~:text=Transparent%20and%20rigid%20biocontainment%20system%20in%20high%20resistance,usual%20loading%20and%20unloading%20procedures%20do%20not%20change.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Billy-CAB<\/a> &#8211; high-performance biocontainment system \u2013 STEM has been the first company to carry out <strong>specific tests to verify the effectiveness of the products<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How the effectiveness of the biocontainment has been proven, will the medical centers be interested?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The tests have verified the number of particles in the medical compartment of an ambulance equipped with the Billy-CAB system. To do so, we used an aerosol system <strong>to simulate the human breathing activity<\/strong>. The device was programmed to release 2,6 \u00b5m particles, the same dimensions of droplets containing infectious microorganisms. Then, we placed three particle counters in strategic points inside the vehicle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>At patient\u2019s head<\/strong> end, nearby the ventilation unit at a height of 850 mm from the ground;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Near the stretcher<\/strong> at 700 mm from the ground;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>At patient\u2019s feet end<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, to simulate the real conditions of stretcher loading and unloading, measures have been taken with <strong>the Billy-CAB<\/strong> on and off. As well as with bonnet open and close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p>[layerslider id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Results: no infected particles in the medical compartment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The results achieved have exceeded expectations. Using the biocontainment system Billy-CAB, there are almost no particles in the medical compartment. The ventilation unit, operating to maintain negative pressure inside the device, generates air flow. It conveys the particles towards the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/HEPA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hepa filter<\/a> placed at patient\u2019s head end. So <strong>the operators are assured a safe transport environment<\/strong> with no pathogens and with constant air monitoring.<br>The tests carried out on the Billy-CAB system have allowed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stem.it\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stem<\/a> to provide <strong>a further guarantee of the efficacy and high performance of its product<\/strong>.
